Letter from Jason, Proprietor

Dear Honey Run Friends,

I was returning to Honey Run the other evening from a short shopping trip in Canton when the song Friends, performed by Michael W. Smith, came on the radio. Hearing this song immediately brought me back to the fourth grade. A friend and classmate drowned while playing on an icy pond and the entire elementary school had a memorial assembly in his honor at which the choir sang the song Friends. As I choked up a bit reminiscing about that period in my life I was struck with the power of music. According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary music is:

The science or art of ordering tones or sounds in succession, in combination, and in temporal relationships to produce a composition having unity and continuity.

Recipe

Gingered Poinsettia

It seems like just yesterday I was writing about how hot the kitchen was and how I longed for the cool autumn weather. Well autumn is here, our new fall menu rolled out and has been well received. I have also acquired some new, young talent in the kitchen. We are poised and ready to serve our guests to the best of our abilities and create the dining experience they deserve.

Garden Tips

Hummingbirds

Continue feeding hummingbirds in Ohio until mid-October. Feeding will not discourage migration, a hummingbird will know when it is time to head south. Feeding them will provide energy and fuel for their journey.

Recommended Walks

The Green Trail

Bright colors of red, orange and yellow shine through the canopy and illuminate this path. Looking above into a seemingly stained glass ceiling, this half-mile loop takes you through the woods along a leaf lined walk with benches placed at the perfect spot to overlook the valley below.

 The Red Trail

This path crosses the highest point on our property. At the top of this trail is a large maple tree, surrounded with a bench that encourages visitors to get lost in thought while regarding the Amish countryside below.
