Having completed our recent consultation exercise with a representative sample of businesses, a number of common issues arise.  We have a round-up of the latest activity on each.
roads, pavements and access
Key actions include the following:
  1. We are working with the two Councils on a High Street access project - deciding how vehicles will be able to use the High Street in the future - options will be released soon;
  2. Having secured £75k for street repairs, after 18 months of work by Ringway Jacobs, we are negotiating how any under-spend is allocated;
  3. Roadwork information is provided by Bucks County Council;
  4. Desborough repairs are reliant on the Masterplan process for the alternative route - we are waiting for the new designs from WDC to be able to share;
vacant properties
Slow down, lay back, and relax on the Atlantic coast.
Key actions include the following:
  1. Negotiations continue on the future of the Chilterns Shopping Centre;
  2. We offer Enterprise HQ for short-term let for business start-ups or new businesses to test ideas;
  3. Churn of the majority of empty units is high so they do not stay vacant for long - there is no lack of demand;
  4. Stubborn units are being addressed with landlords - for the rest that look empty, only 40% are properly available without restriction - check our website
anti-social behaviour, street drinking, begging and persistent offenders
Key actions include:
  1. We are working with TVP on a target-list of individuals;
  2. Street beggars are being issued with warning letters and summons to court;
  3. Where any individuals are charged with an offence, we are working with TVP anti-social behaviour team to seek Criminal Behaviour Orders (CBO) to remove them from the town centre;
  4. Our business security partnership has collectively banned lots of persistent offenders from member premises;
  5. Lots of work is being implemented to resolve issues with anti-social young people causing problems;
  6. HWBIDCo runs a text-giving service in the town centre discouraging people from giving money direct to individuals, making begging less lucrative
Key actions include:
  1. New short-stay FREE parking has been introduced in Frogmoor.  One hour free and three new spaces for blue badge holders;
  2. The County Council has a policy of no free parking on-street so Frogmoor is a one-off departure from this policy which limits opportunities elsewhere;
  3. HWBIDCo implements three annual free parking days, which are consulted with businesses at the beginning of each calendar year.
