keeping you updated on the Masterplan and alternative route

The Town Centre Masterplan for High Wycombe has a number of phases of works and has implications for residents and businesses.  HWBIDCo is working with the two Councils to make sure you are kept informed and consulted.
which piece of road is affected in which month?
Buckinghamshire County Council, working in partnership with Wycombe District Council, are about to commence works from 19th September on the Alternative Route as part of the Town Centre Master Plan for High Wycombe.

Up to August 2017 they will be working to deliver the Alternative Route along Westbourne Street and linking to Desborough Road and Lily's Walk using the same design and street features as phase one. The works will be carried out in various stages as shown on the plans in the links below.

Stage One (September 2016) - Desborough Parking Bays and West End Street
Stage Two (September 2016) - Bridge Street junction
Stage Three (October 2016) - Westbourne Street to Bridge Street
Stage Four (November 2016) - Westbourne Street (junction alignment)
Stage Five (November 2016) - Westbourne Street (central median)
Stage Six (January 2017) - Bridge Street to Lily's Walk

Information boards and advanced warning signs on the highway regarding the works on site will be erected on Desborough Road in the coming weeks which will be updated to keep local people informed.

week commencing 19th September...
  • Set up of contractors compound site on Baker Street;
  • Closure of West End Road. Construction of new footway across previous road access into West End Road. Diversion routes into West End Road from West End Street will commence.
week commencing 26th September...
  • Removal of traffic signals at Bridge Street junction with Desborough Road and installation of temporary signals. This junction will remain controlled by temporary traffic signals until after Christmas 2016;
  • Widening of footways on Desborough Road by Guildmaster Court commences with creation of new parking bays;
  • Removal of the pedestrian crossing signals outside King’s Church, Desborough Road and installation of temporary crossing signals at same location.
