Forms 5 and 6’s Bushcraft Residential

On Tuesday the 21st May the Form 5 and 6 children set off for their residential trip deep into the heart of the Oxfordshire countryside. The children would be sleeping in tents in a woodland area (for three nights and four days!) The tents were already erected in a camp environment with outdoor cooking and toilet facilities. During the residential trip the children learnt a variety of skills including map reading, outdoor cookery, setting traps to catch animals and survival skills.

‘Out of School’
Katie’s Music Competitions

Pre-Prep had the most delightful trip into central London to consolidate their learning about The Great Fire of London and enhance their geographical knowledge of London landmarks. We started the day with a discovery experience on the London Eye, where we had some well-informed guides highlighting many of the main attractions that were visible from 135m high.

Kate from Form 5 has shared a recount of her experiences of participating in music competitions: "I have participated in the North London music festival many times, and twice this year. This festival starts in April and it ends in May. I played in a grade 1-4 competition with ten other contestants. There are many benefits from participating in a music competition."

Kew Gardens
KS2’s Tasting Assembly with Theo and Miss Milligan

At Kew Gardens we saw loads of things like trees, flowers and fish. We went to Palm House which had loads of trees and Waterlily House which had giant lily pads. Next we went on a tree top walk where there was an amazing view. On the treetop walk we sketched what we could see.

On Monday 6th June, KS2 had a tasting assembly to get them thinking about the lunches at Norfolk House. The children were challenged to tell the difference between white and brown pasta and rice – without looking! Most could detect some difference in taste and texture and this lead to a discussion about the health benefits of brown rice and pasta –which included more fibre and more nutrients.
