Thursday Activity: Sewing Club

Sewing Club has been offered to pupils each week as one our Thursday activities this term. The children who took part in the sewing activity all did so with enthusiasm and determination! We have seen a range of skills, from from beginners to experts, but all the children have improved on their skills.

Find out what they have been learning.

Year 5 Make a
Traditional Christmas
Weston Green is Counting Down to Christmas

Year 5 enjoyed learning about the history of the traditional Christmas pudding and had a wonderful time taking part in making their own class Christmas pudding.

Read accounts by the pupils about what they have learnt and what they enjoyed most about the activity.

The countdown to Christmas has begun and many of the classes are learning about Advent:

2BN presented an assembly about Advent to their parents and the KS1 and 2 children. Read more.

Kindergarten were very excited to discover an advent calendar, which they learned will be used to count down the days in December until Christmas. Read more.

Reception’s trip to Garson’s Farm at the beginning of term sparked curiosities, which have been continuously developed through a variety of different learning activities, culminating most recently in the creation of a ‘Recipe for Friendship Soup’!
Year 2 enjoyed a fun-filled day at the Lookout Centre, learning more about electricity, which has been their science topic this term, as well as exploring many other scientific areas. The pupils took part in an electricity workshop, learning about how electricity is made and where it comes from.

Message from the Office
Christmas is almost upon us, and we look forward to a very busy few weeks ahead - full to the brim with festive celebrations!

All the children are busily preparing for their Nativity services and various celebrations taking place this week, including our annual Christmas lunch for staff and pupils on Wednesday 11 December. I refer you to the timings for these events as listed under the diary dates column on this week’s bulletin and the school website.

After school clubs have now finished until the new year, and will resume on Monday 13 January. Club information was sent out via Clarion Call on Friday 6 December. If you did not receive this, please contact Mrs. Withers in the school office.

The annual WGSPA Christmas Fayre, held on Sunday 1 December, was a huge success, and raised a staggering £4,247! Well done Mrs. Barton and the PA, and thank you for organising such a wonderful afternoon of fun and frivolities! We eagerly await next years’ Summer Party.

On Friday 13 December, we will be supporting ‘Christmas Jumper Day’ and children can wear their festive jumper instead of the school jumper or cardigan, to celebrate the end of term. The school will then close at 12 noon until Thursday 9 January 2014.

Many thanks
Miss Trown and Mrs. Withers
