Reception Mentor Scheme:
New Buddies for
the Year

On Tuesday 8th October, the Reception children all met their new Buddy for the year. Children in Forms 5 and 6 have volunteered to ‘buddy’ a Reception child for the duration of their first year at Norfolk House. The Buddy scheme fosters some really strong friendships between the children at either end of the school and provides great opportunities for the children to learn from one another in regular play based sessions.

Last week, Form 2 came to school dressed as Romans, in preparation for their Roman Focus day. Max has shared his account of the day: "In the morning we had a philosophical discussion about Boudicca, which was great. We wore brooches that we had made the day before. After, we learned about Roman Numerals which was really good but quite hard..."

This half term, Form 5W have been studying C.S. Lewis’ The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, which has allowed them to focus on creative writing skills and story structure in a truly imaginative and interesting way. Read William’s writing about entering the wardrobe. He put himself into the story and described his experience.

On Thursday 17 October, Pre-Prep had an enjoyable trip to the Museum of Childhood. The day started with a session looking at different toys on a timeline and the children had the chance to play with various games and toys from the past. These included a Rubik’s Cube, super-hero pairs, Weebles and a magnetic fishing game.

On Tuesday 8th October, the children, staff and parents of the school gathered to celebrate the Harvest. The children were excited at what lay ahead. The theme was ‘Harvests around the World.’ It began with Form 2 presenting how harvest is celebrated in America with Thanksgiving. Form 4 performed a Chinese Harvest.

Message from the office
Please ensure that you park considerately and safely in Muswell Avenue. We have had several complaints from residents; it is imperative that we maintain good relationships with our neighbours, as you can imagine. Included in this, we must also ask that there is ABSOLUTELY NO parking on the zig zags during the hours specified (8:00 - 9:30am / 3:00 - 4:30pm).  Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Please ensure that your child brings a plain navy outdoor waterproof each day when the weather is forecast for rain, and also especially important, for sports days.

If your child arrives late to school, for whatever reason, it is very important you report to the office to sign in. It is imperative the registers are marked correctly particularly in the case of a fire drill/emergency etc.

Breakfast Club is available for all children. Doors open at 7.40am and close at 8.10am. Please ensure children arrive before 8.10am to avoid disappointment.

Wishing you all a good Half Term break!
