Weston Green Highlights of the Year

At the end of a busy year at Weston Green, our teachers have looked back over the last twelve months and have each shared their highlights from 2012/2012.

Mrs Harvey's Highlights of the Year
Weston Green's
Sports Days

After an extraordinary, positive and uplifting year across all areas of learning at our lovely school, there are many highlights and memories that I could write volumes about. However, I am always drawn to those little cameos of children at work and play, their effort, enthusiasm and quite wonderful observations and then those questions that follow!
The EYFS and KS1 & KS2 Sports Days recently took place. The children in EYFS spent an enjoyable morning showing their parents how athletic they were! The Kindergarten took part in running, hurdle, egg and spoon and sack races. Reception took part in running, fishing and pick 'n' mix races. They finished with a super relay. All the children tried their best to win for their team.

School Council
Meet with Countryside

Ms Bridget Saul has been appointed as Class Teacher for the pupils in Year 6. She is currently Deputy Head at Wandsworth Prep School, another Bellevue school, prior to which she spent eleven years as Head of Department at Thomas’ School in London working with Year 6 and 8 pupils. When the pupils of Weston Green elected their first School Councillors earlier in the year, the pupils told them they wanted to find more ways of getting involved with the local environment. So... the School Council sent an email to Elmbridge Council, asking for their help and ideas, and they were delighted when Hannah Maw, the local Countryside Officer, replied. She offered to come and talk to the councillors about ways of getting involved.

Message from Mrs Skivington
And so my time at WGS comes to its conclusion.
It has been another outstanding year with a number of new initiatives mixed in with old favourites: the familiarity of the wonderful Christmas story as relayed by our youngest pupils in the EYFS nativity; our first residential trip for many years when Year 5 travelled to Dorset for the a week in May; the enthusiasm of our new staff as they joined us and began adding new ideas to life at WGS and the happy reflections of those of us, both staff and pupils, who are leaving the school as the academic year draws to a close.
I will be in the office for some weeks to come and of course details will be sent to you about the reorganisation of the office and the administration of the school from September this year. One major change will be that you will be able to email your child’s teacher direct - their email addresses will be detailed in the new Parents’ Handbooks.
“The Skivington Star for Sportsmanship” is my present to the School. It is a trophy to be awarded each term to a pupil judged to have shown commitment and dedication combined with a high standard of playing ability. Five pupils were nominated this term: Henry D, Jack E, Brice G, Ella McC and Tilly W.
And the first winner of the Skivington Star is Tilly W. Well done Tilly - be very proud of yourself - we are.
Enjoy the Summer!
