ELAN’s series of Arts Alive! Québec pop-up mini-festivals concluded in Pointe Claire on September 24. Programming for Arts Alive! weekends ranged from hands-on workshops and kids’ activities to showcases and mainstage performances, and each location contributed its own distinct personality. Hudson and Knowlton involved many community arts organizations in multiple parks and venues around their picturesque towns. Huntingdon featured Grove Hall on the dappled banks of the Chateauguay River, and the Morrin Centre in Quebec City offered its venerable Old City courtyard. In Wakefield, Arts Alive partnered with the Ta Da! Festival at the Community Centre and its adjacent green spaces. John Rennie High School in Pointe Claire provided a fully-equipped stage and a welcoming foyer.

ELAN is pleased to bring back a very popular hands-on workshop presented by CBC Quebec's Meredith Dellandrea, Program Manager, Arts and Culture, and Debbie Hynes, Manager of Communications, Marketing & Brand. This workshop filled up quickly in January and all participants rated it very highly.
Getting Media Attention is targeted at artists who struggle with the daunting task of writing their own press releases and pitching them to the media, or arts publicists who want to increase their skills. This workshop will provide practical, hands-on advice on pitching ideas, standing out from the flood of press releases vying for attention, and shaping your story so that it captures the imagination of producers and the audiences they serve.
This fact-filled workshop is FREE for ELAN members but places are VERY limited. To apply, send us a paragraph telling us how you could benefit from participating: firstname.lastname@example.org
Many members of the English speaking arts community have questions about provincial granting agency Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ) - Do I have to submit applications in French or can I apply in English? Will the juries understand my work?
In addition, CALQ is reviewing and updating its entire range of programs. If you have questions about CALQ, its existing programs, or the new programs being introducing this winter, this is your opportunity to ask your questions - in English (or French).
Join us for a presentation and Q&A by Laurent Rozencwajg, CALQ's Digital Media, Film & Video Program Officer.
