It was a real party! Cirilo, the school's welding instructor, kicked things off with lively worship music (see the video clip below of his current welding students dancing along). Later, local government officials gave speeches in support of the students and school. The event even made the national TV news!
The WAVS School welding student sang and danced along to celebrate at the graduation ceremony.
This year we did something we have never done before. We asked everyone who donated to WAVS in 2018 to send us a messages to share with the graduates. Thank you to those who submitted a message. Your words of encouragement inspired the graduates!
Jenna, the WAVS Director of International Development, translated all of the messages into Portuguese Croele and read them at the ceremony. Watch the clip below to see one of the messages being read to graduates.
Because of you, these young graduates have a much brighter future! We especially want to thank the WAVS Teacher Sponsors who helped make this day possible.
This past holiday season, you helped raise over $30,000 to train 20 welding students this school year with the skills they need to provide for themselves and their families — for the rest of their lives.
Thank you for your continued investment in the lives of young people in Guinea-Bissau.
