You Choose Improvements for Great Falls

The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors and Fairfax County Department of Transportation (FCDOT) are seeking feedback from the community to help prioritize unfunded transportation projects in the county. The results of this outreach will assist the Board of Supervisors in selecting transportation priorities that can be implemented with existing revenue sources through the fiscal year 2023, and with additional funding that may become available in the future.

Several of these proposals are for pedestrian and bicycle improvements within Great Falls. With the very limited amount of funding available for these proposed projects (approximately $100 million), the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors would like to know which of these projects are most important to you. Click the button below to see the entire list of unfunded projects. All of the Great Falls projects are found on Page 4 of the Transportation Projects List.

Fairfax Unfunded Transportation Projects List
You may pick only TWO projects from each category (Bicycle and Pedestrian, Interchange, Widening, etc.) The four projects within Great Falls all fall under Bicycle and Pedestrian. Great Falls Trail Blazers is recommending the first two option below (in green):
  • #616 - Multi-use trail on the north side of Georgetown Pike from Utterback Store to Springvale Road
  • #618 - Multi-use Trail along the north side of Georgetown Pike from Walker Road to Springvale Road
  • #466 - Additional signalized pedestrian crossing on the north and east side of the Walker Road/Georgetown Pike Intersection
  • Write-In Project: #213 - A sidewalk on Utterback Store from Georgetown Pike to Forestville Elementary
By securing funding for #616 and #618, we can accomplish the community-wide goal of a trail along the Georgetown Pike from the Village Center to Route 7.
Survey ends November 9
FCDOT has scheduled a series of public meetings for the community to learn more about the projects proposed for funding. Each of the meetings will begin with an open house followed by a formal presentation and a Q&A session. There will be map display boards of the unfunded projects for residents to view as well as transportation projects currently underway. The last two meetings will be held at:

Fairfax County Government Center – 12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax – Monday, Oct. 23, 2017, from 7-9 p.m.
Thomas Jefferson Library – 7415 Arlington Boulevard, Falls Church – Monday, Oct. 30, 2017, from 7-9 p.m.
