Hello my loves,

Many of us start our spiritual search by seeking a truth that is not influenced by our humanity. We are attracted to teachers that we imagine to be in various ways superior to mere humans. And we often seek to eliminate the unattractive qualities in ourselves that we associate with being human...anger, pettiness, judgement, uncertainty, avarice, lust to name but a few.

After having a profound unitive experience, the personal is viewed as a blemish on the purity of Oneness or Source or Unmanifest or whatever term is used to point to the Unnameable . Personal pronouns then become a symbol of spiritual ignorance and are eschewed. To display human qualities (except perhaps the most noble ones) is further evidence of living at a "lower" level. It is a miserable fantasy but a common and persistent one.

With Grace there may come a wisdom that recognizes the falseness of the dualism that says "I as a human am independent of the Source" and "I am somehow responsible for correcting this deplorable condition."

This Living Teaching of Advaita points to a Source that expresses AS all that is manifest. We are all necessary aspects of a seamless whole. No thing is excluded. Even you!!

May it find you now!

With love,

The Happening of a Guru

Biography of
Ramesh S. Balsekar

A biography of the Advaita sage Ramesh Balsekar. This anecdotal biography is dotted with glimpses into his life, from his days as a boy growing up in Mumbai’s Saraswat community, to his years spent in the London School of Economics. It follows his career with the Bank of India of which he became the General Manager, and dwells on his close interaction with his own guru, Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj. The book culminates with Ramesh’s own insights into the teaching of Advaita, of which he is regarded as the foremost contemporary exponent today. A highlight of this book is the crisp and witty, yet inspiring, essay by Ramesh on ‘How do I live my life?’ Here, with great clarity and simplicity, Ramesh puts across the basic tenets of his complete understanding of Advaita.

The biography is exquisitely printed on Art Paper in full color, and is complemented with photographs of Ramesh as a young banker, of his wife and family, pictures of his guru Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj and unique portraits of Ramesh the embodiment of an enlightened Master.

The dualism or separation begins with “me” and “the other”, between an individual organism and the rest of the world, when the individual becomes aware of his individuality as against the rest of the world: the individual feels that he is identified not with the all but rather with his own organism; his sense of identity has shifted and narrowed itself from the universe as a whole to only one facet of the universe, that is, his own organism.  This separation does not stop here.  It moves further down when the self-identity becomes further narrowed when the individual identifies himself not with his entire psycho-somatic organism, but with only one aspect of the organism, namely, the psychic part, or the mind or the ego, and considers the body as a sort of burden (even St. Francis referred to his body as “poor brother ass”).  The person really comes to feel that he lives in his head, almost as the tiny man in the skull, giving directions and commands to his body, and feels frustrated when not all of them are obeyed, and indeed when he finds that most of the functions of the body are totally involuntary and without his direct control!

Hi Wayne!

We humans go through many phases in our lives.  We don’t choose them and we don’t get a say.  At this time in my life, this is the best of all phases.  There is indescribable calm and acceptance.  I am a grateful person by nature but the gratitude has grown to swallow up all else and I have nowhere else to turn but to you to thank you.

With so much Love and Gratitude,

Wayne Liquorman
