The 'Stroud in Transition' Celebration will be held at The Lansdown Hall from 7-10pm next Sunday 12th October.
Doors will open at 6.30pm, and you are welcome to attend the formal AGM of Transition Stroud at 5.30pm at the same venue (please note, only official members of Transition Stroud will be able to cast votes. If you are a member but are unable to attend, you may appoint a proxy - please email: admin@transition.org).
If possible, please bring a little food and/or drink to share at a buffet-style sit-down meal (at 7pm). Do not worry if you can't bring anything - we are organising a little for everyone and we're sure plenty of people will bring food and drink.
As well as plenty of time for informal chatting and networking, the event will include short presentations from Transition Stroud and some of the other organisations that make Stroud a town in Transition to a more sustainable future.
We will also have a transition quiz, some human bingo, other activities to help us make plans for the coming year, and some film and music.
Attendance is free, but we will be passing on a small charge (£1 per head) from the Lansdown Hall for corkage should you wish to bring alcoholic drinks.
Please let us know if you intend to come - RSVP to admin@transitionstroud.org
We hope you can make it - it's going to be great!

The Transition Stroud reading group meets once a month at the Black Book Cafe, with recommended books or themes. This month (Saturday 18th October, 4-6pm), we are focusing on the Transition movement. To make it easy for everyone to take part, we'll be looking at the recent edition of the Transition Free Press as our core reading. You can pick up a copy of this excellent newspaper at the Stroud Valleys Project shop in Threadneedle St, or at the Stroud-in-Transition Celebration.
If you'd like to read more about the Transition movement, we have a copy of The Transition Handbook by Rob Hopkins, the book that kickstarted the movement and has now sold out, in our librar at the Black Book Cafe. You may also find the following books useful (click the titles for more information):
The Transition Timeline: for a local, resilient future by Shaun Chamberlin
The Transition Companion: making your community more resilient in uncertain times by Rob Hopkins
The Power of Just Doing Stuff by Rob Hopkins
There are also Transition books on Local Food, Local Money, Local Sustainable Homes, and Communities, Councils and a Low Carbon Future - working together to make things happen.
If you purchase any of these books, please support Stroud Bookshop rather than a multinational internet company when you do so, and consider donating the copy to the Transition library after purchase. Email admin@transitionstroud.org if you have books to donate.
