Make your days be filled with Prayers to the Heavenly Father... May these be among those prayers...

“Prayers not felt by us are seldom heard by God.”
                                                 ~Philip Henry
“Prayer requires more of the heart than of the tongue.”
                                                 ~Adam Clarke
“Prayer is not eloquence, but earnestness; not the definition
of helplessness, but the feeling of it.”
                                                 ~Hannah More:
“God hears no more than the heart speaks, and if the
heart be dumb God will certainly be deaf.”

1878 Daily Prayer Union:

Jan. 20.
Prayer.

I LIFT up, God, my eyes and my soul to thee.
I come to a great God, through a great Savior, con-
fessing my great sins, and pleading for the great
Spirit. I desire to lift up "holy hands, without
wrath and doubting." From the depths of my heart
I would call upon thee. Enable me, by the Holy
Spirit's help and teaching, to pray always according
to thy mind and will. Daily may I enter into my
closet, and when I have shut the door, pray to my
Father who is in secret, and who has promised to reward
me openly. Hear me for Christ Jesus' sake. Amen.

Jan. 21.
Prayer is a Privilege.

Let my prayer, God, come before thee as
incense, and the lifting up of my hands as a morning
sacrifice. I desire to view prayer not only as a duty,
but a privilege. May I esteem it the highest privi-
lege I possess to have a God of love to whom I can
come at all times, by day and by night. Grant that
I may be permitted to see more answers to my peti-
tions, and more tokens for good, for Christ Jesus'
sake. Amen.

Jan. 22.
Prayer as a Delight.

Grant, Heavenly Father, that I may take an
increasing delight in prayer and praise. May those
be my sweetest and happiest hours which are spent
in prayer. Let prayer be the chief joy and delight
of my life. Let prayer and praise be the element in
which my soul may live and breathe and have its
being. Hearken to my imperfect breathings, for my
Savior's sake. Amen.

Jan. 23.
Faith in Prayer.

Thou Giver of every good and perfect gift, I pray
that I may know, and believe that thou art a God-
hearer and a God-answerer of prayer. May my
experience resemble that of the Psalmist, " It is good
for me to draw near unto God." I pray that I may
know more of the mighty power and efficacy of
prayer; have faith to believe all the precious
promises thou has given to those who seek thee, and
that prayer moves the hand that moves the universe.
Incline thine ear to my supplications, for Christ
Jesus' sake. Amen.

Jan. 24.
Faith in Prayer.

Lord, increase my faith in prayer. With childlike
faith, may I believe that if I call upon thee in the
day of trouble, thou wilt deliver me; that if I ask, it
shall be given me; if I seek I shall find; and if I
knock, the door of mercy will bo opened; that
all things, whatsoever I shall ask in prayer, believ-
ingly I shall receive; and that if I abide in Christ,
and His words abide in me, I shall ask what I will,
and it shall be done unto me. Hear and answer me
for Christ's sake. Amen.

Jan. 25.
Seek the Lord.

0 God, thou art my God, early may I seek
thee" early in life, and early each day. I would
seek thee while thou mayest be found, and call
upon thee, while thou art near. Give me wisdom to
seek first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness,
believing that all things necessary shall be added
unto me. Bow down thine ear to me and hear me,
for the infinite merits of him who died upon the
cross for me. Amen.

Jan. 26.
Find the Lord.

Father of mercies, I come to seek thy face, thy
favor, and thy heavenly benediction. Give me
grace to find thee, not a God absent, but present, not
a God hostile but propitious “a very present help
in trouble.” I would follow the example of thy
servant Jacob, and wrestle with thee in fervent
prayer, and not let thee go without a blessing. Do
for me, God, exceeding abundantly above all that
I ask, or think, for Christ Jesus' sake. Amen.

1834 Book of Devotion
Selected Prayers from this great book by Hannah More

Morning. (1.)

Merciful and over-looking God, I bless
thee for thy care over me the past night.
Grant me thy protection through the en-
suing day ;keep me from all evil ;and
whatever thou ordainest for me, in small
or great events, may I remember that it
is thy will, and that I must cheerfully take
up my cross to follow the Lord Jesus, my
Saviour and Redeemer. Amen.

Our Father, &c.

Morning. (2.)

Heavenly Father, Lord God Almighty,
I come to thee to implore thine aid and
protection through the ensuing day, and
to offer thee thanks and praise for all thy
mercies, and that of the past night's quiet
rest. Make me to walk in thy ways, and
so I shall be blessed. Give me the strength
to do that which is righteous in thy sight,
and may no allurements of gentleness or
pleasure wile away my heart from thee.
Make me diligent to do the day's work
which is set before me. And in all the
trials of hourly existence, the infirmities
of my temper and that of others, the
crosses and disappointments of worldly
hopes and cares, may I, God, lift up
my heart unto thee, through Jesus Christ
our Lord. Amen.

Our Father, &c.

Evening. (1.)

Merciful Lord, take me this night un-
der thy kind protection. Watch over me
while I sleep. If I wake in the night sea-
son, may my meditation of thee be sweet,
and my soul be glad in the Lord. If I
am spared to see the light of the return-
ing day, may I rise from my bed to give
all diligence to walk before thee to all
well-pleasing. And whether I wake or
sleep, live or die, may I be the Lord's, for
Jesus Christ's sake. Amen.

Our Father, &c.

Evening. (2.)

I THANK thee, Lord, for the blessings
which I have this day enjoyed. Grant
me this night such refreshing rest, that I
may be better able to discharge the duties,
and hear the burdens of another day, if
thou shalt be pleased to add another day
to my life. If my eyes should be kept
waking, may my meditations on thee be
useful to me. Pity my weakness, mer-
ciful God, and hear my imperfect petitions,
for the sake of the Lord Jesus Christ, who
is touched with our infirmities, to whom,
as to our merciful High Priest, be glory,
for ever and ever. Amen.

Our Father, (fee.

For Strength to resist Temptations.

Almighty God, the Father of mer-
cies, source of holiness, the fountain of
strength, grant me power to resist and
overcome all temptations, and to guard
against all dangers ;that I may not be the
slave of accident or violence, of interest
or passion, of fear or desire. I am en-
compassed by infirmities, surrounded by
many dangerous allurements ;my heart is
deceitful, my passions awake, my duties
are many and difficult, and my resolutions
weak. Be thou unto me wisdom, right-
eousness, sanctification and redemption.
Thou hast promised thy Spirit to those
who seek it. Grant that it may dwell with
me ;instruct, support, and encourage me
in holiness, resignation, and every Chris-
tian virtue ;that I, being ready prepared
for every good work, may grow to the
full measure of the stature and fulness
of thee, my Saviour. Grant that my in-
firmities may be fewer, and my graces
stronger ; so that I may walk on sted-
fastly in the ways of thy laws, and
the works of thy commandments; and
finally, through the merits and mediation
of Jesus Christ, attain to that heavenly
kingdom where is fulness of joy and plea-
sure for evermore. Amen.

Our Father, &c.
