Producer Highlight: Moonstruck Cheese


Our latest producer highlight is Moonstruck Cheese from Saltspring Island, and we have a few tasting notes for their cheeses from Chef Oliver Kienast from Sooke Harbour House. 

Moonstruck has also announced a new Cheese Buyers Club! Four times a year, a gift basket of cheese is delivered to your door. More details can be found at their website

Slow Fish Mystery Dinner - Vancouver
6-10pm September 27th, 2014

An event worth travelling for! 


"The Chefs’ Table Society of British Columbia invites you to join the Slow Food / Slow Fish movement and eight mystery chefs on Saturday, September 27th at the Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts, just off Granville Island. Start your evening with canapés and libations, and then move though the school’s eight professional teaching kitchens to meet mystery chefs, visiting from BC and beyond, who will each offer a tasting-sized portion of sustainable and lesser-known local seafood delicacies for you to try.

Chefs’ Table Society member and Slow Fish member Chef Robert Clark has been evangelizing sustainability in seafood since 1998 and is spearheading this event along with Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts executive chef, and Chefs’ Table Society member Julian Bond. At its heart the event is intended to raise awareness for Slow Fish and its role in protecting our oceans. The Chefs’ Table Society has a mandate to support BC producers and sustainable food production, and is happy to present this event."

International:
The 10th year of the Salone del Gusto and Terra Madre in Turin, Italy will take place October 23 – 27. At the center of this year’s event will be two main themes: food biodiversity and family farming.  Find out more at the Slow Food International website or http://www.salonedelgusto.com/

National:
We have two new products on the Canadian Ark of Taste! Ostrich Fern Fiddleheads, and the Camas Bulb (a nomination from our very own convivium!). You can read about both on the Slow Food Canada blog, and look out for more information about Camas on our blog soon!
