As we wrote previously, Wesley UMC will be closing the building to ALL church meetings and worship services, as well as all outside groups, until at least 3/31 as a precaution against the spread of coronavirus Covid-19. At our 3/25 Ad Board meeting via Zoom (a videoconferencing tool), we will revisit this matter and notify you of our decision to reopen or remain closed for the time being. If you are a volunteer who normally stops by the church during the week, you are asked not to do so during this time. If there is anything you need to do here or retrieve, you may do so while we are open tomorrow until noon. We will be holding worship services at 8:30 and 10:30 with the Bishop. Pastor Cheryl and Bonnie will be monitoring the church mail, e-mail and phone messages over the next two weeks.
We will be providing livestream worship services while we are closed. That is, you can watch the service, as it happens on your computer. You can also always watch on CCTV or our YouTube channel anytime. Even though you are welcome to attend in person tomorrow, we will also be livestreaming that service in the event you choose to stay home. Here's how to find us tomorrow and each Sunday at 10:30.
Paul encourages the Colossians with these words, "Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And be thankful." Colossians 3:14-15
We ARE bound together as the body of Christ even as we are separated during this time and we need our connection with each other. In addition to our weekly services via livestream on YouTube and meetings and Bible study via Zoom, we need to pray for one another. To that end, Laura Fry has offered to receive and distribute our prayer requests. You can reach her by email at this link.
In a further effort to remain connected, Pastor Cheryl will offer resources via this newsletter at least weekly and encourages each Wesley member and friend to be in contact with others. We may devise a sort of phone tree that provides connections among all of our members. We encourage you to call, email, text and mail each other with words of encouragement. Details will be forthcoming. If you'd like to help set this up, please contact Pastor Cheryl at this link.
