I feel so lucky to live in Australia; the streets are peaceful, the water is clean and my kids are safe. The excitement of the end of year holidays is close, however I still feel a sense of devastation. I can't get the images and pleas of desperate families fleeing the destruction of Aleppo out of my mind.
A serious humanitarian disaster is unfolding right now in Syria. I'm filled with a deep sense of compassion for the 250,000 people of Aleppo caught in the crossfire without food and basic necessities - a human compassion that goes beyond political or religious differences. I can no longer do nothing when faced with this human suffering and I hope you feel the same.
Stand Up has launched an emergency appeal for the people of Aleppo. 100% of your donation will be given to CARE Australia, an organisation that is working with humanitarian aid partners inside Syria, distributing emergency food, hygiene kits, mattresses and blankets to thousands of affected people fleeing the immediate violence.
Anne Frank's words remind us that it is up to every individual to Stand Up for the vulnerable and powerless during times of war.
"Nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world".
Please join me in taking action by supporting our Aleppo Appeal.
Thank you in advance for you generosity.
