Building a community of Jewish Australians who are passionate about social justice and who actively work to create a better world for all.
Dear Friends,

L'shanah Tovah Umetukah to you and your families. We wish you a meaningful holiday, and a year filled with joy, health, discovery, wholeness and peace.

We recently held our first ever JAA staff retreat which was a great weekend of bonding, learning, and planning for JAA's exciting future.

This week we launched the Nuba Now campaign which aims to create awareness about the crisis in the Nuba Mountains in Sudan, and to raise funds to support the victims who have fled to the Yida refugee camp.

Over 100 Bnei Mitzvah kids have now participated in JAA's Stand Up program - an innovative 6 week social justice education course for 11 and 12 year olds. It has been inspiring to see so many of the alumni get involved in projects that are making a positive difference.

We hope you enjoy this newsletter, and we look forward to your continued involvement with Jewish Aid - whether it be as a donor, volunteer or fan on our facebook page.

Best Wishes and Gmar Chatima Tovah,

Gary and the JAA team
P.S: We are currently hiring in Melbourne: a Refugee Support Programs Coordinator (20 hours) and an Admin Coordinator (12 hours). Click here for more information.

Derech Eretz Expands

JAA's Indigenous Partnerships continue to expand. Our 14th Trip to Toomelah will take place in January and our first trip to Cummeragunja will take place next week. Read DE participant Yasha Rawicki's powerful reflection piece here from the most recent trip.

Sudanese Baking Challah

Last week the Challah for Hunger team came to JAA's womens group to teach the women how to make challah. Watch the video here. CFH has raised thousands of dollars for JAA's programs by baking and selling delicious challah.
