News from Clare McCaldin and McCaldin Arts
We are now urgently fundraising through Kickstarter to complete the costs of presenting Vivienne (see panel below) at two festivals this year - Tête à Tête: the Opera Festival and the Camden Fringe. The piece is written but we need to top up the budget for our five performances.

The way Kickstarter succeeds is is by enabling a lot of people to make a small contribution, which can quickly reach our designated total. If you go to the page using the button below, you'll see that there are many different levels at which you can support, all of which attract rewards related to the project. If you decide to give, there will be news bulletins and lots of other updates on how the project is developing, both during the Kickstarter campaign and beyond. Please don't feel compelled to give, but if you would like to support us, even the smallest contribution will make a difference.

Vivienne is my latest collaboration with Stephen McNeff and librettist Andy Rashleigh, who worked with Stephen on a very successful operatic version of The Waste Land for the Donmar Warehouse in 1994. My collaboration with Stephen goes back many years and most recently resulted in a very successful CD (more information below)

Guardian cartoonist Martin Rowson, whose graphic novel of The Waste Land formed the basis of Steve and Andy's opera, has generously given us permission to use an image from The Waste Land featuring portraits of Vivienne and TS Eliot as part of our fund-raising activities. See the image here.

Madrigali dell'Estate continues to attract terrific reviews.

Hilary Finch has given us four stars in BBC Music Magazine, and wrote: "brilliantly backlit cameos of sand and tide, shore and slimy estuary... sung here by [Clare McCaldin] with real commitment and imagination."

Online, the Classical Reviewer praises Stephen's "remarkably fine songs" and writes of me, “McCaldin is superb with wonderful control and accuracy… (her) upper mezzo range is terrific… superbly accomplished singing."  Read the full review

Madrigali dell'Estate is now available from and other retailers.

In May, I performed my new lecture-recital Haydn's London Ladies for the first time at the Foundling Museum, with Richard Hetherington at the piano. This is an hour-long story told with musical illustration, in which I talk about Haydn's relationships with four women whom he knew during his stays in London and sing the songs associated with them.
