We look forward to welcoming you to the XVIIII International Symposium on Atherosclerosis (ISA 2018) to be held in Toronto, Canada from June 9-12, 2018. It is our pleasure to invite you to join us for what promises to be one of the most exciting global meetings on atherosclerosis, thrombosis and vascular biology.

Since 1966, the International Atherosclerosis Society (IAS) has held triennial meetings to bring together top clinicians, researchers, and health practitioners from around the world. This meeting will also provide an opportunity for its attendees to participate in public health awareness and innovation forums focused on cardiovascular health.

The Fourth IAS-OSLA Course
“Lipid Metabolism and Cardiovascular Risk”

Muscat, Oman, 16-19 February 2018


The IAS and OSLA are happy to announce that  4th IAS-OSLA Course of the series on "Lipid Metabolism and Cardiovascular Risk" held in Muscat, Oman, on 16-19 February has been extremely successful. This series of residential courses aims to increase the knowledge and experience of early- to mid-career English-speaking clinicians practicing in the MENA region countries and interested in the management of lipid disorders. This unique series has also been successful in linking local, regional, and international leaders in the field of lipid management.

Safety of and Tolerability of CSL112 Infusion in Patients with Acute Myocardial Infarction: a Commentary on the AEGIS-I Trial

A low level of high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) is a known risk factor of cardiovascular events. HDL-C has been previously incorporated into cardiovascular risk scores including the Framingham risk score and Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease (ASCVD) 2013 risk calculator. The primary function of the HDL particle is to remove excess cholesterol from atherosclerotic plaques for transport to the liver.

Antitubulin Concept in the Therapy of Cardiovascular Disease

The colorful history of Colchicum autumnale (commonly known as autumn crocus) stretches back over 3,000 years. Ancient writers have described it as the remedy for patients suffering debilitating pain due to acute gout arthritis. Today, this therapeutic effect of Colchicum autumnale, from which colchicine has been isolated more than 100 years ago, is known to be due to its anti-inflammatory action and also works for the treatment of cardiovascular disease.
