This is my final e-mail as Chairman of RLSS Avon & North Wiltshire. After several years on the committee, I'll be standing down at our AGM on the 16 Oct.
I'm not sure that it's healthy for an organisation to have the same chairman for too long - so I thought that I'd stand aside and let someone else inject some new ideas into the branch! It's been a pleasure to work with you all and see the fantastic things that our grass-roots members are doing in the local area. I'd like to take this opportunity to say a special thanks to the Branch Committee who work tirelessly behind the scenes on your behalf! Rest assured that I'll still be very much involved in local lifesaving (I'm also chairman of Keynsham LSC) so I'm sure I'll see some of you at future RLSS A&NW events.

After the AGM, the Nile Swimmers
team will be giving a short talk about their work to prevent drowning in Africa. The Nile Swimmers Project is an innovative drowning prevention programme based in Africa. The Project focuses on developing the water safety skills and knowledge of community leaders – so they can pass it on to their communities in a sustainable way.
Well done to everyone who attended the recent RLSS
