Every lifesaving group in the area relies on a dedicated team of volunteers to keep things running smoothly: teachers, committee members, parents and helpers all have their part to play. This is your chance to recognise the work that volunteers do for you within the branch!

If you know of someone within your Club, Group or ATC who's work deserves to be recognised, please download a nomination form from the RLSS Website, fill it in and e-mail it to Please submit your nominations by 31 Mar 2014.

British University Lifesaving Nationals - 15/16 Mar 2013
The national student championships will be taking place on the 15th/16th March at the University of Bath. Good luck to the teams from Bristol University, Keynsham and Bradford-on-Avon who are taking part.

Spectators are welcome to come and watch some first-class lifesaving athletes in action. Please see the BULSCA website for more details about the event

Competition Secretary
It is with regret that RLSS A&NW must announce that our competition secretary, Kevin Hands, has recently stood down. Kevin has been on the committee for the last year, and throughout that time he has been an avid supporter of competitions throughout the branch. Thank you Kevin for everything that you've done for the branch!

If YOU are looking for a new challenge, and would consider taking on the role of competition secretary please e-mail for a no-obligation chat about what the role involves.

Di Standley has left RLSS UK after twelve and a half years as CEO. Di Steer will be acting CEO until a permanent replacement can be appointed.

Welfare Officer
Just a quick reminder that every lifesaving club should have a designated welfare officer. Full details are available on the RLSS Website, and our Branch Safeguarding Officer, Alice Charteris, is always happy to offer help and advice to clubs regarding the welfare of their members. Please e-mail if you need any help.

Social Media - Can YOU Help?
The RLSS West Region is looking for volunteers to help run the Facebook Page, Twitter Account and Website. If you would like to help, please contact - full training will be provided.
