PCI Blood Drive March 10

Did you know that heart patients often require blood transfusions before, during and after surgery? It’s true. In fact, about 8% of all donated blood goes to help heart patients. When longtime blood donor Tom Tyler had open heart surgery, he ended up needing two units of blood post-operative. Learn more about his story at www.bloodcenter.org/tom.

PCI Is sponsoring a blood drive Thursday, March 10,  2:30 - 6 p.m., at the PCI Medical Pavilion, Community Room, 3rd Floor - 202 10th Street SE, Cedar Rapids.

Sign up by calling 319-297-2900 or email mhays@ pcofiowa.com.

PCI Opens Specialty Care Now

Physicians’ Clinic of Iowa this week announced it will open Cedar Rapids’ first walk-in specialty care clinic on April 1.

Specialty Care Now will provide care for immediate, but non-life threatening medical conditions. There is no other walk-in clinic for specialty care in Cedar Rapids.

“Specialty Care Now was created to address the growing need to improve access to specialty care,” said PCI CEO Michael Sundall. “People with immediate needs shouldn’t have to wait weeks for an appointment with a specialist, nor should they be forced to go to the emergency room and pay higher costs. With the Specialty Care Now clinic, patients can walk in and be taken care of quickly. Patients also can seek immediate second opinions for a range of diagnoses.”

Conditions treated at Specialty Care Now include:

  • Severe earaches or infections, hearing loss, severe sinus problems
  • Athletic or on-the-job injuries
  • Neck and back issues
  • Sprains, strains or broken bones
  • Severe headaches and/or migraines, vertigo
  • Urinary tract infections, kidney stones
  • Second opinions and specialty triage
Specialty Care Now is located on the second floor of the PCI Medical Pavilion, 202 10th Street SE, Cedar Rapids. Appointments are not necessary. For more information, go to pcofiowa.com/SpecialtyCareNow.
