We appreciate your business and value our relationship. Here are some updates on what's been happening at SIG and in the green building industry lately.

Local Law 87 Compliance:
Building Energy Efficiency with SIG

SIG is quickly becoming a strong force with LL87 compliance based out of our growing New York City office. Our technical services team recently completed 8.5 Million SF of LL87 and LEED Retro-Commissioning in Manhattan. Our team understands the requirements of LL87 and how to work well with Property Teams to help you comply with the required energy audits and retro-commissioning. We test “base building systems” which includes, but is not limited to, the building envelope, HVAC systems, elevators and escalators, domestic hot water supply, and electrical and lighting systems.

All initial assessments can be completed within four years prior to the required filing date, so act early in order to assure timely completion. Keep in mind that repeat EERs must be filed every ten years. SIG is ready to help you with this mandate. Ask us how we can take your building LEED EB and LL87/RCx at the same time for about the price of non-LEED LL87 scope.

SIG is Expanding Northward

As the green building and sustainability industry continues to grow and gain popularity, so must the companies that strive to provide excellent consulting services. SIG is expanding! Asa Posner, Senior Sustainability Consultant at SIG, will be heading up SIG’s new Minneapolis/St. Paul office. In addition to the Twin Cities, this office will allow SIG to expand into other important markets in the Midwest such as Ohio, the metro-Chicago area, and other northern states.

In fact, SIG is already working on several projects in the Midwest:
  • SIG is providing LEED consulting and project management services to Hines for a suburban Class A office building in Columbus, OH. The building, mostly comprised of call center, is submitting its LEED EBO&M v3 and Energy Star applications in Q4 of 2013 and anticipates the official awards in Q1 of 2014.
  • SIG is also working with a large investment company to prepare a LEED Gap Analysis and Feasibility Study for nearly 1M sf of retail mall in Chicago. The building contains several large anchor retail tenants, and may potentially be one of the first buildings to pursue the new LEED for Existing Buildings – Retail rating system under LEED v4.

Cargo Bikes: A Greener Road Ahead

Cargo bikes are gaining momentum as a growing aspect of the sustainability movement. Making intra-city deliveries via peddle power appears to have nothing but a host of advantages and little-to-few drawbacks.
