The USGBC Celebrates Their 20th Anniversary.

When you go inside a beautifully preserved historical building you probably notice that it is full of character—uneven floors, cracks in the plaster, and drafty windows seem to only add to its charm. We even get to enjoy a glimpse of a bygone era because of handcrafted details, vintage wallpapers, and fabrics.

It is hard to connect a LEED certification to a 100+ year old building, but actually historical preservation and LEED not only go hand-in-hand, but really make a great partnership. In honor of USGBC's 20th Anniversary, check out these 20 historic LEED buildings in the spotlight.

Gotham Greens: A Rooftop Farm in New York City

As American consumers become more aware of GMOs (genetically modified organisms) in their food, the demand for high quality, organically grown, non-GMO food, continues to increase.

One company addressing this demand is Gotham Greens, a New York City based 'rooftop farm', that produces high quality produce for local restaurants and retailers. Their methods are sustainable and the end results are nothing short of remarkable.
