Serving our Homeless Population

To support Seattle's homeless population, we currently distribute nearly 500 To-Go Bags per month, ensuring that anyone who visits our facility Tues-Sat can receive pre-prepared foods to satisfy one day's meal.  We are expecting demand to increase with upcoming SNAP cuts, and the new homeless encampment on MLK Way near Othello.  Beginning in April, up to 1 million people in the U.S. will be affected by SNAP (formerly called food stamps) benefit cuts. Read our blog to find out how you can help!

Dine Around Seattle

Are you ready to eat your local heart out? Dine Around Seattle is our area’s premier biannual dining event, giving you a chance to try some of the areas best restaurants for a great deal, all while helping support Rainier Valley Food Bank. For every reservation made on dinearoundseattle.org through March, a donation will be made to the Rainier Valley Food Bank. Learn More.

Sunchoke Season!

"Grows like weeds, productive, beneficial nutrition, a plus for food security." Last week artist and gardener Isobel Davis brought 72 lbs of Jerusalem Artichokes (commonly known as sunchokes) to RVFB from Bradner Community Gardens!  We LOVE receiving garden fresh donations, and when local organic produce donations come with beautiful recipe cards, that takes us to the next level of gratitude.  Learn more about sunchokes and how to cook with them at the Jerusalem Artichoke Project.

Kindiependent

Kindiependent has some great shows coming up, and RVFB will be there getting our family fun groove on! On March 26th and April 23rd we will be taking donations of food and money so we can continue feeding our hungry neighbors.  We hope to see you there!
