Midwest Damage Prevention Training Conference Announces Matt Eversmann as Keynote Speaker

The Midwest Damage Prevention Training Conference (MWDPTC) is proud to announce First Sergeant Matt Eversmann (Ret.) as its keynote speaker. The MWDPTC returns for its 2nd year from Nov. 5-7, 2014 at the French Lick Resort in French Lick, Ind. Matt Eversmann is a testament to the true nature of war and heroism. He is immortalized in the film "Black Hawk Down" and the 2004 book "The Battle of Mogadishu," which tell the heroic story of a group of elite U.S. soldiers sent to Somalia in 1993 as part of a United Nations peacekeeping operation. Eversmann will deliver his inspirational speech at the conference on Thursday, Nov. 6. If you have not yet registered, now is the time before early bird pricing ends! Indiana 811 Thanks Firehouses for Supporting National Safe Digging Month
This spring, Indiana 811, Vectren and NIPSCO asked fire stations across the state to remind community members to call 811 before digging by posting a "call before you dig" message on their marquee. All fire stations that participated received a donation of $50, and the grand prize winner, Celestine Volunteer Fire Department, received a donation of $200 (check out Celestine's entry below). All donations were made possible through Vectren’s and NIPSCO's support of Indiana 811.

CGA Members Remind NASCAR Fans to Know What's Below

Call 811 has made a big impact with NASCAR fans this year. Indiana 811 and other Common Ground Alliance members partnered in a season-long promotion of 811 at the Kentucky Speedway. Fans were reminded to know what's below with decals that featured the 811 logo and an image of an open hole with buried utility lines placed in high-traffic locations throughout the facility. Fans also had the opportunity to purchase discounted tickets to the Quaker State 400, which took place June 26-28, with a special 811 discount code.
