Midwest Damage Prevention Training Conference Sells Out in Second Year
The 2014 Midwest Damage Prevention Training Conference (MWDPTC), hosted by title sponsors Indiana 811 and Kentucky 811, was held Nov. 5-7 at the French Lick Resort in French Lick, Ind., and was a huge success. This second annual event sold out with more than 370 attendees. Facility operators, locators, excavators, regulators, engineers and other professionals who work near underground utilities from around the region joined together for networking and damage prevention education.
Indiana 811 and Kentucky 811 were joined by 32 sponsors and 42 vendors from across the country. The conference kicked off with a welcome reception, as well as a golf tournament at the French Lick Resort's Donald Ross Golf Course. Other highlights of the 2014 MWDPTC included a keynote speech by First Sergeant Matt Eversmann (Ret.), one of the heroes immortalized in the film "Black Hawk Down" and the 2004 book "The Battle of Mogadishu," which tell the story of a group of elite U.S. soldiers sent to Somalia in 1993 as part of a United Nations peacekeeping operation. Attendees also had the opportunity to participate in 12 different educational sessions focused on damage prevention best practices, law, and workplace safety for industry professionals.
The third annual Midwest Damage Prevention Training Conference will take place Nov. 11-13, 2015 at the French Lick Resort. Visit www.midwest811conference.com in February for more information about the 2015 MWDPTC.
