Vectren Educates Students with "Energy Safe Kids" School Program
For the seventh year in a row, Vectren held a natural gas and electric safety program called "Energy Safe Kids" this past fall for students in fourth grade throughout its service area in partnership with the National Energy Foundation. Each year, nearly 15,000 students enjoy interactive classroom presentations to learn how to be safe around these energy sources, and they are encouraged to share their new knowledge with family and friends. After all presentations have been completed, each participating classroom is invited to a contest in which they can submit a video demonstrating what they learned. You can watch the 2014 first place video, which was submitted by students at Shenandoah Elementary School in Middletown, Ind., by clicking here. This fun, educational campaign also includes an interactive website for students where they can play games and learn more about safety hazards.

Get Ready to Promote National Safe Digging Month Today
National Safe Digging Month is less than a month away, and it’s time to start planning how to spread the 811 message during April. To help you promote safe digging this spring in one unified voice with other members, Indiana 811 updated the marketing toolkit with press releases, web banners, fact sheets, talking points, internal communication templates and radio ads. You can access the Indiana 811 toolkit by clicking here. To order a banner for National Safe Digging Month, click here.

Indiana 811, Vectren and NIPSCO Kick Off Annual Firehouse Program
Indiana 811, Vectren and NIPSCO are once again asking fire stations across Indiana to show their support for National Safe Digging Month by reminding their communities to call Indiana 811 before any digging project. Fire stations that submit a picture of their marquee featuring a call before you dig message, such as "Know what's below. Call 811 before you dig," or "Digging soon? Call 811 first," receive a $50 donation for their organization and are automatically entered into a grand prize drawing for a $1,000 donation. Donations are made possible by the support of Vectren and NIPSCO. Submissions are due to ind811fire@gmail.com by April 30. Be sure to encourage your local fire station to help spread the word this April and submit their photo!

2015 CGA Communications Plan
For the fifth consecutive year, Common Ground Alliance (CGA) has developed an annual Communications Plan and Calendar to guide stakeholders in their efforts to promote the 811 message and other damage prevention practices. The 2015 plan features a year's worth of 811 promotional ideas, creative campaigns, press releases, social media messages and more. Visit CGA's website here to download the full Communications Plan. The Communications Plan is constantly being updated with new case studies from CGA members, so be sure to keep checking back throughout the year.
