Vectren Educates Students with "Energy Safe Kids" School Program
For the seventh year in a row, Vectren held a natural gas and electric safety program called "Energy Safe Kids" this past fall for students in fourth grade throughout its service area in partnership with the National Energy Foundation. Each year, nearly 15,000 students enjoy interactive classroom presentations to learn how to be safe around these energy sources, and they are encouraged to share their new knowledge with family and friends. After all presentations have been completed, each participating classroom is invited to a contest in which they can submit a video demonstrating what they learned. You can watch the 2014 first place video, which was submitted by students at Shenandoah Elementary School in Middletown, Ind., by clicking here. This fun, educational campaign also includes an interactive website for students where they can play games and learn more about safety hazards.

Indiana 811, Vectren and NIPSCO Kick Off Annual Firehouse Program
Indiana 811, Vectren and NIPSCO are once again asking fire stations across Indiana to show their support for National Safe Digging Month by reminding their communities to call Indiana 811 before any digging project. Fire stations that submit a picture of their marquee featuring a call before you dig message, such as "Know what's below. Call 811 before you dig," or "Digging soon? Call 811 first," receive a $50 donation for their organization and are automatically entered into a grand prize drawing for a $1,000 donation. Donations are made possible by the support of Vectren and NIPSCO. Submissions are due to by April 30. Be sure to encourage your local fire station to help spread the word this April and submit their photo!
