Indianapolis Indians Diamond Dig Reminds Fans to Call Before Digging
Citizens Energy Group and Indiana 811 hosted the third annual Diamond Dig on Friday, Aug. 16 at the Indianapolis Indians game at Victory Field. Fifty fans – using only their hands – dug up a portion of the infield in search of a one karat diamond provided by Shane Company. Holey Moley was at the game to remind all fans to call Indiana 811 before they dig – check out his photo with Indians mascot Rowdie.
Television Viewers Across Indiana Reminded to Call 811
Comcast aired nearly 9,000 Indiana 811 30-second spots this summer on a wide variety of channels in Central and Eastern Indiana. Channels with the most public service announcements included Discovery, ESPN, the Golf Channel, NBC Sports Network and NFL Network. This effort by Comcast went a long way in promoting the 811 message to residents across the state.
Indiana 811 Promotes 8/11 Day
The Friday before 8/11 Day, Indiana 811 delivered cakes to radio stations across the state, asking them to take part in celebrating August 11, which serves as a convenient reminder for Indiana residents to call 811 prior to any digging project. Thanks to the support of NIPSCO and Vectren, Indiana 811 was able to deliver cakes to eight stations in Evansville, Fort Wayne, Indianapolis and South Bend to promote the 811 message.
Diggin Dega Sweepstakes
Common Ground Alliance and 3M are working together to promote the 811 message through the Diggin Dega Sweepstakes. Through Sept. 13, fans who visit www.diggindega.com can enter to win an all-expenses-paid VIP trip for two to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Camping World RV Sales 500 at Talladega Superspeedway on Sunday, Oct. 20. As part of the sweepstakes' launch last month, driver Greg Biffle displayed the 811 logo on his No. 16 3M Ford Fusion for the Cheez-It™ 355 at the Glen at Watkins Glen International on 8/11 Day.
Alan Dalrymple Memorial Softball Tournament
On Oct. 5, Indiana 811 will sponsor a team at the Alan Dalrymple Memorial Softball Tournament, an annual fundraiser in memory of Alan Dalrymple, a serviceman with Vectren Energy who tragically lost his life on the job in 2006.
