Message from Dan Meiners

Indiana 811 Members:

As 2011 comes to a close, I'd like to take this opportunity to reflect on the year and the many accomplishments we've made as a team. I'm very happy to report that as of the end of November, inbound requests to Indiana 811 are up 2.6 percent from last year.

An increase in requests is a reflection of the hard work we all have done to increase awareness of 811. As you'll see throughout this final 2011 edition of The Dirt, the combined efforts of Indiana 811 and members has led to positive exposure at dozens of events, millions of free media impressions across the state, and unique sponsorships and partnerships.

The number of Indiana 811 members continues to grow, providing additional ambassadors for the 811 message in 2012. Indiana 811 has also introduced exciting new changes this year. We redesigned our website, celebrated our 30th anniversary, and partnered with minor league baseball teams, the Indianapolis Colts and Marco’s Pizza during National Safe Digging Month and 8/11 Day.

As this year comes to a close and we look forward to 2012, I would like to say thank you for all of the hard work everyone has contributed to spreading the safe digging message. Your contributions to Indiana 811 this year have allowed many families to come together safe and healthy this holiday season.

Happy holidays to you and yours,

Dan Meiners
Executive Director, Indiana 811
