Congratulations, Mana - we will miss you!
Sadly, all good things come to an end. This month, we bid farewell to performing member Mana Hayashi Tang, who is retiring from the group.
During her six years as a performing member, Mana played an active role in taiko education and history - both within the group and to the community through our classes. She taught us the popular piece "Yatai Bayashi," a traditional piece inspired by an annual festival in Chichibu, Japan and popularized by renowned taiko groups Ondekoza and KODO. It's a challenging arrangement that has since become one of our most popular performance pieces at Japanese Festivals.
This month, Mana defended her doctoral thesis and is retiring from the performance group as she continues her professional career. Congratulations, Dr. Hayashi Tang - we will miss your energy and optimism, and we wish you all the best!
