We are so excited to begin reopening the studio!

Return to the studio!

We're excited to share that we are beginning to reopen our studio! A small group of performing members met to rehearse for a private event to be performed on Zoom, and what a thrill it is to be back and the studio, working our taiko muscles once again!

With masks on and our equipment spaced extra-wide, the group of four has been revisiting favorite pieces with a new enthusiasm that comes from being away for so long - much like reuniting with an old friend. It’s been incredibly energizing!

Final practiceAbove: Joel manages the A/V controls in our final rehearsal before the show. His knowledge of the technical side of an online performance was a lifesaver!

As exciting as it is to return to practice, we're sad that we have not been able to share the experience with all of our performing members together. The health of our members, students and families is a top priority, and to maintain safe distancing we are limiting the number of people inside our studio. But while we are not ready to open fully just yet, we are encouraged by this step toward performing and teaching taiko again.

Our first performance since the pandemic reached St. LouisThis was our first performance in four months, when COVID-19 reached St. Louis. We owe a special thank you to community group member and volunteer Audrey Simes for welcoming us to her outdoor studio for the event and helping to make it a special day.

We hope everyone is continuing to stay safe and well, and we look forward to being with you all again!

Flashback to 2016

Gateway Dragon Boat Festival

The Gateway Dragon Boat Festival at Creve Coeur Lake has long been a favorite summer event. Various groups organize teams to race in dragon boats in support of Operation Family Help, a non-profit group dedicated to assisting families with medical needs not covered by insurance.

Dragon boat festival 2016

We've been proud to perform at this family event for many years, and of course were disappointed that the June event could not take place due to the pandemic.

But there's good news! As the St. Louis region continues to reopen, planning is underway to reschedule this year's event for August 15. We hope to have more updates in the coming weeks!

In the meantime, we hope you enjoy this flashback to the 2016 Gateway Dragon Boat Festival. We look forward to the festival's return!

We are a non-profit group that performs the art of taiko around the St. Louis area and the world.
