Join Us at the Next NID Board Meeting, February 14

Help show your love for the Bear River this Valentine's Day!
This Wednesday morning, please join us as we make two important requests to the NID Board.

We are asking the Board to demonstrate their commitment to fiscal responsibility by not expending further time and money in pursuit of Prop 1 funding after receiving a Public Benefit Score of zero.

We are asking the Board to include Centennial Dam as a standing agenda item so that we may have a genuine dialogue about how best to manage water in our community.

  • When:  Wednesday, February 14, 2018, at 9:00AM
  • Where: 1036 West Main Street, Grass Valley

The NID Board meets on the 2nd & 4th Wednesday of the month at 9:00am. Find the agenda here.

  • What:   SYRCL is hosting a poster-making party for the Bear River Recreation Rally in Sacramento!
  • When:  Tuesday, February 13, from 5:00-7:00PM
  • Where: 313 Railroad Ave, Suite 101, Nevada City
  • BYO:    Paints, pens, poster board, tape, glue, scissors, etc.
  • PLEASE RSVP here
  • What: SYRCL, Foothills Water Network and the Sierra Club are hosting a Bear River Recreation Rally in Sacramento at the next California Water Commission (CWC) meeting. Our local water district is pursuing tax payer money to pay for Centennial Dam. Help us send a message to the California Water Commission that the Bear River is treasured by the community as it exists today. Investing millions of Prop 1 funds to create poor-quality habitat and expensive recreation facilities is a bad investment for California. Rather, we should be investing in what tax payers voted for: resilient, multi-benefit, flexible and innovative technologies to help us meet our future water needs. A dam is a 19th century solution to a 21st century problem. Join us in Sacramento to stand up for the Bear River and a more sustainable water future for California.
  • When: Wednesday, February 21, early morning through mid-day
  • Where: *NEW LOCATION* the meeting has moved to the CA Food & Drug Administration Building, 1120 N St, Sacramento
  • RSVP: The Sierra Club has generously donated a shuttle bus, but space is limited. Please RSVP ASAP.
