NID Releases New Plan for Water Proposal

We need the Dam Watchdogs!

At the March 12th NID Water and Hydroelectric Operations (WHO) Committee meeting, NID Board and staff agreed to consult the public over the next quarter and draft a new Request for Proposal (RFP) for a company to design and facilitate the public process to update the Raw Water Master Plan (RWMP), also known as the Plan for Water. Only a month later, NID has released a draft RFP, to be reviewed tomorrow.

What: NID WHO Committee Meeting
When: Tuesday, April 9, 2019 9 a.m.
Where: NID Headquarters
1036 W. Main Street, Grass Valley, CA 95945

After briefly reviewing the draft RFP, SYRCL continues to be concerned that the RWMP process lacks an impartial Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) and the RFP was drafted without public consultation - two things that SYRCL and others have been consistently asking NID for almost a year.

To learn more, check out the draft RFP here, attend the WHO meeting tomorrow and the next NID Board Meeting Wednesday, April 10, 2019.

Despite public protests, NID continues to spend on Centennial Dam. This month's warrants list several Centennial expenses, including over $10,000 spent this past month on a roof repair for a property purchased in the inundation zone. In total, NID has spent $32,555 towards Centennial in 2019.

Additionally, NID is considering another property purchase near the inundation zone again in closed session. This is all during a pending water rates hike
