"Counseling is a beautiful thing!"

-New Friends New Life teen client

New Friends New Life continues to be at the forefront of the best possible holistic trauma-informed care for women and girls. Our counseling staff has been trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Re-Processing (EMDR) therapy to assist survivors as they transform and heal from trauma. The EMDR protocol has proven extremely successful in treating trauma patients because it offers the possibility of rapid relief from the Post Traumatic Stress Disorder symptoms of re-experiencing, hyper-vigilance, irritability, anger, and avoidance.

According to a taskforce of the Clinical Division of the American Psychological Association, the only methods empirically supported for the treatment of any post-traumatic stress disorder population were EMDR, exposure therapy, and stress inoculation therapy.”
