Human Trafficking Awareness Month

It seems only appropriate that the first month of the year, our "fresh start," our "time to refocus" would draw our attention to an issue so important and worthy of awareness--Human Trafficking. We know the numbers--an estimated 1 in 3 runaway children are lured into sex trafficking within 48 hours, an estimated 400 girls are trafficked each night, $99 million is spent on the commercial sex industry per year... in Dallas. Be a part of the movement to change Dallas…

Rally with Us at the State Capitol

New Friends New Life supports legislative policies that help victims of human trafficking and decrease demand for sex trafficking. State Representatives Tan Parker and Senfronia Thompson will carry legislation supported by New Friends New Life to strengthen the law and make Texas hostile ground for traffickers and a safe haven for victims. To voice our support of these human trafficking policies, New Friends New Life is co-sponsoring with Children at Risk a rally on the south steps of the capitol in Austin on Thursday, February 12, 2015. For more information on the initiatives, please read the legislative recommendations from the Office of the Attorney General, and the recommendations from New Friends New Life.  To register for the rally, click here.

New Friends New Life Leads Training for Other Providers Worldwide

The counseling and advocate programs launched a webinar series for other non-profit organizations and after-care providers that help sexually-exploited or trafficked women and girls. Care providers from Dallas to Australia learned a model that combines trauma-informed, strengths-based, and relationship-based as the foundation behind holistic services that New Friends New Life finds successful in helping women and girls survive outside of the industry and move towards healing and empowerment.
