The New Friends New Life Resource Center offers important services to protégés, including computer classes, GED tutoring, Money Skills for Life training, bible studies, and group therapy. In January and February of this year, 48 protégés accessed services at the Resource Center. Protégés have the opportunity to work one-on-one with a Career Works volunteer to gain valuable training. The first Career Works training class was held this year and was a success, culminating in an interview workshop. This enriching program guides the protégés in skills assessment, writing, career exploration and interviewing skills. The goal of the Career Works program is to enhance a protégé's ability to obtain employment to allow her to be self-sufficient.
A special thanks to DallasHR Chapter! DallasHR is a 2,000+ member organization of human resource professionals that is assisting NFNL by offering their network of members for volunteer and company involvement. Members from DallasHR taught interviewing skills to the New Friends New Life protégés, are volunteering at the WINGS luncheon and will host a career day in the fall.
