Health Policy Reminder

Dear Parents,

It is that time of the year! The weather is changing and everyone is getting sick. We would like to remind you once again of the school's illness policy: If your child has a fever, is vomiting, or has diarrhea, he or she may not come to school until 24 hours after these symptoms have subsided WITHOUT the aid of fever reducers.

To start with, please do not send your sick child to school. Students should always remain home when they have a fever of 100 ºF (38 ºC) or above. The majority of parents keep their children home when they are sick, giving them time rest and heal. It is unfair to the other children, parents, and staff when you send your sick child to school because it exposes them, too.

Thank you for your cooperation in keeping your children and our entire school healthy.

Warmly,
Nurse Basham

Night of the Arts Concert

Thursday, May 14 • 7:00–8:30 p.m.

On Thursday, May 14, St. James' will present its third annual "Night of the Arts" concert.

Children in third through sixth grade will sing songs by grade level. Also featured will be the Choir, the Handbell Choir, and the St. James' – Colburn Band.

Similar to the Christmas Pageant, this is a must-attend event for the students performing. Unlike the pageant, however, it is a true concert of secular music, during which you can show your appreciation for the children's efforts with thunderous applause.

The students are working diligently, learning two-part songs, and they are discovering how satisfying it is to sing in harmony. So, please mark your calendars and be sure to make this joyful event!

Huskies Athletics

an update from Coach Matthew

It was beautifully clear and sunny spring afternoon – May 3, 2015. Parents lined the benches to root their kids to victory! The St. James' first through third graders prepared, once again, to meet their rivals from Good Shepherd on the pitch. Par for the course: Good Shepherd arrived with a dearth of players hoping the Huskies would lend them a hand – or a foot, as the case may be.

Improvements were seen all around as the players took to the field. Both teams were passing, moving into open space, and calling for the teammates to send the ball their way. The coaches couldn’t be prouder! In the first half, Sadie S.(GS) scored a hard-earned goal against the fighting Huskies! Not to be out done, her brother Hal followed in her footsteps.

Kudos to the goalies and defenders on both teams for keeping the remainder of the match scoreless!

The final score, 2-0 Good Shepherd.

St. James' looks forward to hosting their final match of the season at home against Temple Israel of Hollywood on Thursday, May 28. See you all there!
