Board Update - Initiative to Merge

At a meeting between the Board of the NZ Dental and Oral Health Therapists Association and the Executive Committee of the NZ Dental Hygienists Association held in Nelson on Sunday 20 March it was proposed that, in principle, the initiative to merge the two associations proceed.
The agreement followed a frank discussion between the two organisations about the future of the oral health profession and the desire of both associations to provide better oral health care for the public.  It was agreed that given the alignment of values of the two groups and the opportunities to make a positive change the merging of the two associations needs to be progressed.

A committee of six members, three from each association will be formed to progress discussions. NZDOHTA will be consulting with members over the next few months to gauge the interest from members for this initiative.
