YOUR CLUB NEEDS YOU FOR THE SPRING COMMISSIONING

It’s that time of the year again!

Last year there was a wonderful turnout for the annual clean-up, and we need your help again to get ready for another great sailing season.

The Club’s premises and fleet of sailing dinghies and power boats all need to be prepared for the coming sailing season by the end of May. The Dragon fleet will be racing from 13th of May, our opening event will be the At-Home Regatta, over the June Bank Holiday weekend, with boats coming from Kinsale, Cork, Schull & Baltimore and our sailing training activities commence on 6th of June with the Schools Sailing Programme.

The clubhouse needs to be spring cleaned. The yard needs to be emptied of dinghies, power boats and moorings. All need to be cleaned and moved to the pier. All our power boats need anti-fouling before being launched. Aquastar wood trim requires sanding & sealing. The pontoon has to be towed from winter storage, repaired, extended and painted then secured to the pier. Racing marks need to be placed. The marquee needs to be erected.

Our annual Club Work Day, as mentioned in the last newsletter, is on Saturday April 29th (May Bank Holiday weekend) when we plan to get the majority of the work done. It’s guaranteed there will be a job for everyone who turns up, young & not so young. Refreshments will be provided during the day and will be followed by the Club Curry night for a bit of R&R for all members and friends. Let us know you are coming.

For those that cannot make the Work Day some of the jobs can be done before, ie. Aquastar sanding & sealing, some antifouling, clubhouse cleaning, window and sign maintenance. Let us know if you have a spare day or more to get some of the work out of the way before 29 April and what you would like to help with.

The Committee task team leaders look forward to see you all at any time after 0900hrs. The earlier we start the earlier we finish!

Please contact us under  glandoreghyc@gmail.com  (subject: Work Day) to let us know how many are coming.

Thank you!
