EMI Team field notes in Democratic Republic of Congo

Water Project in DR Congo

Gemena Community Water System Assessment

In February, I had the privilege of co-leading a small civil engineering team to Gemena, Democratic Republic of Congo. We worked with World Vision, reviewing the water system construction progress and providing recommendations for future system plans. We were able to assess several deep borehole well systems under construction and to hike to some mountain springs which can be further developed for communities below.
Praise God that visas were received in time for this trip and that our presentation and recommendations were well-received. Continue to pray for the ongoing work in this very remote area of Congo.

Upcoming Plans

Trusting God for the path ahead

Praise the Lord for a good finish at language school in France! This extra time has increased my fluidity in French and has been a blessing to deepen relationships, including with an amazing international Connect Group through Hillsong Paris.

This weekend I will visit the Hoffman family in Albertville, France, and it has been good to spend some time with the Wright family here. Thanks for your continued prayer for our team, including two other families who are preparing to begin their French formation!

Please pray for an upcoming meeting with a French urban planner who will be doing some design work in Cameroon. We plan to discuss experiences in West Africa, and I'm eager to learn more technical design terms in French through the process.

I'm looking forward to seeing many of you in the States this summer! I will be back in mid-May to connect with partners and to lead a project trip, possibly back to Congo-Kinshasha or somewhere else in the world.

The target date for my move to Senegal is now December 2015, as God has opened some opportunities for me to connect with design professionals around Paris and to learn more specific design terminology. I plan to also lead an EMI team to northern Benin in September for a hospital master-plan project.

Great is His Faithfulness

Je veux chanter à jamais les bontés de l’Eternel et proclamer d’âge en âge sa fidélité. // I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever; With my mouth will I make known Your faithfulness to all generations. (Ps 89)

Dieu est fidèle. // God is faithful.

I have experienced His faithfulness throughout this season in France...From arriving with a few words in the language to being able to have conversations more fluidly, God has shown me His love, His goodness, and His faithfulness.

My awe of who He is seems more fully expressible since I can now use French in my adoration of Him. Truly the most beautiful use of language is for the praise of His name! May He be praised and adored because of His unfailing love and His everlasting faithfulness.

À Dieu soit la glorie! // To God be the glory!
