Grateful for MTI

Thanks be to God for time of pre-field training in Palmer Lake, Colorado

From one of the first times I went up the stairs at MTI and met a staff member, God revealed Himself as personal, caring, and yet all-powerful and holy. He is such an awesome God! I enjoyed times of collective worship and of getting to know the community of kingdom workers and their stories. It was amazing to hear and share some personal struggles, and I give God glory for the victories.
I've realized that language is a ministry in itself, that assumptions of cultural differences can be delayed, that there is opportunity in conflict, that there are joys in differences, that stress can be harnessed, and that rest is worth fighting for. The MTI community was incredible, and I'm grateful for each person I met there and the ways they reflect the glory of Christ Jesus in the way they love Him and each other. To God be the glory: great things He has done, is doing, and will do!

Hospital Project in Benin

L’Hôpital Évangélique de Bembereke

In mid-September, I led an EMI team of architects, engineers, and surveyors to Benin where we partnered with HEB to map and plan for their future growth. Throughout the time, I had the privilege of French/English interpreting and translating, trying to communicate very technically and specifically about medical care and equipment, as well as electrical components, pumps, pipes, and sewage. It was a great learning opportunity, and I praise the Lord for a few other missionaries there who were also able to help with translation, as it is still an exhausting task for me!

God brought us to work with the all-Beninese hospital leadership at a key time as they seek counsel, trusting Him to bring them together with an ongoing focus of sharing the gospel in word and deed. Praise God for this project to serve with the Beninese church as they share Jesus through the hospital! Pray for continued unity and vision for the hospital, that the light of Jesus would penetrate the surrounding regions for His glory.

Quel repos dans Sa présence : Rest in His Presence

The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” Exodus 33:14

One of the things God emphasized to me at MTI was the importance of rest. I don't usually recognize the value of rest until I am overly tired or exhausted. I like to go; I like to do; but it can be difficult for me to slow and rest. However, I learned that rest should be scheduled and regular (weekly, monthly, yearly). It is worth fighting for and denying opportunities just to rest, especially in the presence of the Lord.

Pray with me that God would grant us satisfaction in the times of rest, as well as the times of accomplishing much. Father, thank You for your presence with us and the rest that You give! Help us to go with You and to be refreshed in Your presence as we rest.

L'Eternel répondit: «Je marcherai moi-même avec toi et je te donnerai du repos.»
 Exode 33:14
