Greetings in Jesus, <<First Name>>!
I pray that you had a blessed Resurrection Sunday, rejoicing in the life Jesus gives. My most recent update is below, including travel in Ghana and Nigeria, as well as plans for upcoming travel and my relocation to West Africa.

Connecting and Designing in Ghana

I was blessed to lead a team of three Americans, four Ghanaians, and a Nigerian to design two structures for Heritage Christian University College in Greater Accra, Ghana. In addition to their ongoing seminary classes, Heritage is planning to offer classes in business and IT beginning later this year. Please join me in praying for them as they complete the remaining steps toward accreditation. Construction on the new buildings, which the team designed, will begin at a later date as the school grows.

God worked powerfully in the lives of the volunteers throughout our time together, and one Ghanaian volunteer said that participating with EMI changed his perspective about serving the Lord using his engineering work. Praise God for assembling this team from many different backgrounds and places to worship Him through design!

On February 18, past EMI volunteers assisted me with the first EMI West Africa Volunteer Conference in Accra, Ghana. A group of almost 50 design professionals gathered together for worship, fellowship, and presentations on EMI's ministry and technical subjects. Pray that this gathering of local designers who follow Jesus would continue on a regular basis.

While in Ghana, Intern Jeff and I also visited Jesse's Hope of Glory Children's Home in Aflao, Ghana, where construction is nearly complete. Praise God that the children will soon be moving to their new home which EMI helped design last summer!

Jane and John

Moments with Jane

Jane and I were able to spend a week of quality time together in Nigeria last month. We explored Abuja, the capital; we went to a theme park with rides; we ate together; we watched a Nigerian movie; we inline skated; we swam; we sang; we talked. I am blessed by this woman who fears the Lord, and we look forward to continuing to develop our friendship. Jane will not be able to come to the U.S. as soon as we had hoped because her tourist visa was denied. But, we will still message and talk by phone, making the most of times when we are both awake and available to converse. Thank you for your continued prayers for this relationship.

Upcoming Travel Plans

I still plan on moving to Sierra Leone as EMI partners with the hospital improvement program of Mercy Ships. However, I will be relocating in January 2013 instead of August or September of this year. I will share more about this in future updates.

My next travel plans include a unique opportunity to join with my Colorado Springs church body, Freedom Church, as we minister to one of the least reached people groups in the Philippines. Please pray for this team and the Agta people to whom we are going in June. Praise God that He has already provided $1,000 toward this trip cost! I am in need of $2,000 more, part of which we plan to raise through team fundraisers. If you would like to be a part of investing in this mission trip, contact me or visit and specify my name in the funds designation.

Sharing the Hope of Jesus

Even in places where is it dangerous for me go out sharing the love of Jesus with people, God is faithful to bring people to me. While I visited Jane's parents and sisters last month, the Lord gave me oppotunity to talk with two men, Paul and Simon, who are originally from northern Nigeria. These two men had many questions about the Bible, life in Christ, and corporately gathering at church. It was a joy for me to point them to God's Word and to let the Holy Spirit speak into their lives through me. Please join me in praying for these two, as they will likely have a part in Prayers Farm Nigeria, which is now under construction. Continue to lift up Brothers Dominic and Todd as they follow the Lord's leading for this fish and vegetable farm. Ask our Father that many more would enter the kingdom of God by trusting Jesus because of seeds that are planted through this ministry.

Jesus said, “The kingdom of God is like a man who scatters seeds on the ground. He sleeps at night and is awake during the day. The seeds sprout and grow, although the man doesn’t know how. The ground produces grain by itself. First the green blade appears, then the head, then the head full of grain. As soon as the grain is ready, he cuts it with a sickle, because harvest time has come.” - Mark 4:26-29
