Meghan McKenna Porter
Atlanta Alumnae President
Region 3 and the Atlanta chapter really cleaned up at 2016's Convention, held in sunny Orlando, FL June 23-26! Not only did we win the awards shown above, we also received lots of well wishes from Delta Gamma rockstars like former Fraternity President Maureen Sweeney Syring, NPC delegate Shari Souser Malone, VP: Alumnae Christine Rocchio, VP: Collegians Aleesa Miller Ross, and Fraternity President Stacia Rudge Skoog. Region 3 Director Joanna Shook and RAS Alanna Montoya, both of whom are current Atlanta members, were also cheering us on all week! Atlanta members met with the CMT of Delta Iota- Georgia and the president of Eta Chi- GCSU in order to promote strong collumnae connections, and we hope to welcome some collegians to a few summer events before they head back to classes. In addition, your delegate attended all General Sessions and participated in the election of the 2016-2018 Council and the adoption of amendments to the Fraternity Constitution regarding a name change for Council titles. The Fraternity has some wonderful initiatives for alumnae ready for this biennium, including templates for a signature philanthropic event much like the collegians' Anchor Games- a tea, luncheon, or banquet called Tables that Bloom. Alumnae programming and an emphasis on values will be focuses of both the Fraternity and your Atlanta chapter. Please give us feedback on the types of programming that appeal to you! Let us know how we can best engage you at whatever stage of life you are enjoying. We are excited to share our successes with other groups and look to other alumnae chapters for fresh ideas. We hope to begin the biennium with a renewed focus on Living Our Ritual and emphasizing the "For Life" designation of the Fraternity brand. Don't be afraid to get creative and Imagine... how else can Atlanta support you, serve our community, and engage our values?
