Dr. Jeffrey B. Perry at Estate Whim Museum, July 19

Dr. Jeffrey B. Perry, author, scholar, history preservationist

For several decades, Hubert Harrison, a remarkable Crucian-born intellectual and radical of the early 1900s, went virtually unknown and un-celebrated in history. Scholar and writer Jeffrey B. Perry, through his preservation and promotion of Harrison's writings, is working to change this. Join St. Croix Landmarks Society and Dr. Jeffrey B. Perry at Estate Whim Museum on July 19, 6:00 p.m. for a talk focused on the life and work of Hubert Harrison.

The following titles will be available in Estate Whim Museum Store during Come Home to St. Croix 2016:
Jeffrey B. Perry (editor), A Hubert Harrison Reader - A Hubert Harrison reader is a published collection of Hubert Harrison's writings on various intersecting topics, including (but not limited to) race, politics, and the labor movement. The reader includes annotation by Dr. Perry.
Jeffrey B. Perry, Hubert Harrison: The Voice of Harlem Radicalism, 1883 - 1917 - This is the first of a two-volume biography by Dr. Perry in which he provides details of Hubert Harrison's influence on the New Negro Movement, the Garvey Movement, various organizations, and the broader philosophies of socialism and radicalism. Dr. Perry also gives extensive insight into Mr. Harrison's life and environment.
Hubert Harrison, When Africa Awakes: The "Inside Story" of the Stirrings and Strivings of the New Negro in the Western World - This is a 2015 re-printing of articles by Hubert Harrison. This book includes an introduction, a biographical sketch, and notes by Dr. Perry.

There will also be a book signing by Dr. Jeffrey B. Perry after his July 19 talk at Estate Whim Museum!
