It is my hope that in doing so, I will be better able to monitor feedback and ensure that these efforts are faithfully serving our congregations and the Church at large. The title begs the question, what is in the works? Well, what's in the works is the answer to that question. More to come in the next InfoDigest!

Remember Lutheran Church–Canada's mission and ministry partners in prayer each week. Consider including the picture and biography of each missionary in your bulletins the same week you name them during General Prayers.
This week, we remember Deaconess Neak Mao, a member of Cambodia Lutheran Church who serves as Deaconess in Preach Lutheran Church in Kompot Province in Cambodia. She is also serving as a Bible teacher at Garuna Christian School in Kompot.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, since Your Son has saved the world through His holy, innocent, bitter sufferings, and death and sent forth His Church to proclaim the Good news of this salvation to the ends of the earth, we pray that You would sustain Neak Mao in Preach Lutheran Church in Kompot Province, in Cambodia by Your Spirit and bless her labours for the sake of the Gospel, that Christ’s Kingdom might be extended further into the world; let us pray to the Lord. C: Lord, have mercy.

(First Sunday after the Epiphany)

The Triune God Is Manifested and Reveals Himself to Us in Holy Baptism

The Baptism of our Lord is an “epiphany” of the one true God in the flesh and blood of Jesus. He is the chosen servant of the Lord, anointed with the Spirit for the rescue of God’s people to bring forth justice to the nations (Is. 42:1). Thus, He makes all things new, and He is given as a covenant for the people, a light for the nations (Is. 42:6). In the waters of the Jordan, He takes His place with sinners and takes all the sins of the world upon Himself. He undergoes the Baptism of repentance in order to fulfill all righteousness for us (Matt. 3:15). He submits Himself to the curse of sin and death in order to redeem us. We are baptized with a Baptism like His, thereby dying and rising with Him, so that we will also live with him (Rom. 6:8). Indeed, all of us who are baptized into Christ Jesus are anointed with His Spirit and named by His Father as beloved and well-pleasing sons and daughters.

“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice.” - Philippians 4:4

Life was no easier for the Philippians than it is for us today. They faced the same sorrows, sicknesses, and disappointments that we do. Yet St. Paul tells them to rejoice in the Lord. We have an abiding joy, a peace which passes all understanding because we know our Lord Jesus and His love for us. This gives us confidence in the face of every hardship; it gives us strength to lead lives in imitation of Jesus’ own generous love.
As we begin a new year and a new decade, what comfort these words can give us. For though we may not know all that is in store for us, we do know that Christ has promised to be with us always. When so many do not know of Christ’s great love, the Church brings that message to the world. This work is life-saving regardless of what we might go through.
Consider how a gift in your will can provide incredible resources for your church to continue to proclaim the message of Christ’s love. If you would like more information on how to establish a gift, please contact Lutheran Foundation Canada or visit our website at
