Dear , On June 8th, twenty-two families gathered together on a lovely Leyte beach to celebrate the releasing of nine fishing boats. This livelihood project started with one boat, "The Katherine Anne", in August of 2014. Over the next months, twelve boats were added by way of a partnership with Global Impact Phils Foundation. By December of 2014, thirteen families had received boats under the four-year, lease-to-own project.
In February of 2015, Alex Morton unexpectedly passed from this world. A memorial fund for boats was established and donations allowed for the construction of sixteen additional boats, nine of which were dedicated on June 8th.
In a simple turnover and remembrance service, nine joyful families received hope for a brighter future. More families will receive boats later this month. Their lives will never be the same due to the opportunity to have a stable source of income.
It was also a joy to visit the homes of many of the recipients and hear stories of how the boats have given them hope after the devastating impact of the Super Typhoon of November of 2013. We heard of boats being used for fishing, for distributing Bibles and being used to take their children to and from school. We heard how many of the recipients are tent-making pastors and use the boats for their only means of support.
We were also pleased to see that the lease-to-own program is working and the boats are all in a good condition. At the end of four years, the boats will be given to the families with 100% of the lease-to-own payments used for maintenance and repair of the boats and/or toward the purchase of an additional boat.

Grateful to the donors who have helped turn the dreams of families to have a fishing boat into reality.
