Dear <<First Name>>, Books, lots of books for children are in use - 15,000+ books added this year for children to hold in their hands and read. Another 2,000+ books for pastors have been placed in theological type libraries since June.
So with your help, we have been able to establish twenty-eight mini-libraries in churches or multi-purpose centers operated by faith based organizations, five new partnership libraries inside of schools, four theological type libraries for pastors and one library in a medical type facility. Additionally, we have given many books to the Davao City Mobile Library Project.
These books were collected in the USA, Singapore and Canada and more are in boxes heading this way. Reading centers and lending libraries in rural communities are open for the first time. It really is not that complicated and it fills a huge need. 350-400 children's books can be sent here for less than $100 USD. One box starts a library.
In the past three months, we have been able to establish two partner libraries with Alma Schrader Elementary School in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. One is at the Santiago Elementary School in Palompon, Leyte. The second is with the GSIS Elementary School in Davao City. We are in the process of establishing a new reading center at the Marilog High School of Agriculture, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Pag-Asa and Seeds of Dignity. Each of these sites have about 1,000 books. We also are involved in a small construction project to enlarge the reading center at the Marilog HS of Agriculture for an investment of about $200 USD.
With the arrival so many new books, we have started and/or enlarged small lending libraries inside of several churches on Mindanao and Leyte Islands. Last week, we added three new sites; this week another four sites will be added. We are also able to place books in each of the rooms in the new Compassion Building in Palompon, Leyte, which serves over 250 students. We are blessed to have three small computers labs in some centers.
If the average reach of each site is about 150 people, books are regularly in the hands of about 6,000 users each month. Most are children who don't have access to books in their homes. You are helping to touch many lives. Last week, for example, we witnessed every classroom in the GSIS School using books during their reading hour. Over 400 children attend this school. Before our partnership with them, there was not a reading hour at the school.
We are excited to hear more books are being collected. Along with collection of books, we do need funds to ship them. If you would like to make a donation toward shipping costs, funds can be sent via Paypal through our website - www.seedsofdignityministries.com or can be mailed to Seeds of Dignity Ministries, 17076 Carriage Road, Sonora, CA 95370. Checks should be made out to: Seeds of Dignity Ministries. Please write on the memo line or attach a note indicating this is for the "library project".
Thanks for your partnership!
