What you see is made up, in part, because of what is hidden.
This week, we are discussing:

The tapestry of life..

... is made of up of the seen and unseen.

We have all heard the term.. the tapestry of life, but how many of us think about what that means. A tapestry is a form of textile art. It is traditionally woven on a loom and is made up of two sets of threads. The warp thread runs the length of the tapestry and the weft run across the width. Most fabrics are created in a similar manner but a tapestry is a 'weft-faced' weaving, which means you only see the weft threads, the warp threads are hidden. Another unique aspect of tapestry is that the threads are not always continuous. They are added in blocks in their own small area.

How much is this like life. There is so much going on that is never seen that creates what we see in the lives of others. And much of it is in the background and does not continue throughout the lifespan but happens in blocks or stages. There is the school stage, the relationship stage, the parenting stage, career stage, travel, divorces, death, inheritance and so on. Each event, each idea and each idea we are exposed to in our lives helps to shape us and our lives. Tapestries are also beautiful because of the contrast between light and dark.

The good news is you get to choose the colours, textures and images for your tapestry. Make your tapestry vibrant, rich, joyful and colourful. And sure, there will be some dark things, weave them in for contrast or make them part of the warp thread that is part of the overall tapestry but is not seen. Your life is a result of all the threads. You get to choose which ones to display. Or, use those dark threads to drive you forward. Make them the most positive thing in your world. Many people take what pains them and transform it into a beautiful legacy. Ultimately the choice is yours. Have fun with it. If you were to create a tapestry, or some other art (song, painting, poem) what would it look like, sound like, feel like? Food for thought.....

have a great week.

Til next time

We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color.
