Want to know what your values are? The are behind every decision you make.
This week, we are discussing:

Priorities and Values

Should you keep the ones you have or get new ones?

We often hear talk about values. If we look at our behaviour we will see what our values are. And that our values drive our behaviour. While this may be true to some degree at times it might be our fears driving our behaviour. Or we may think we value something but when we look at our life find that we actually don't. This happened to me when I was attending uni. We did an excessive in one lecture to determine out values. I put health as one of my top three, along with education and relationships. When I looked at that list though, I had to revise it. At the time I did no excersize (unless you count walking around the campus), regularly snacked on high sugar foods to keep me awake and might have take aways 2 or 3 nights a week if I was too tired to cook. And yet, no wonder I was tired, I never did anything kind for my body.

That was a real wakeup call for me. I decided then to put my health as one of my highest values because I wanted to and before I took it for granted and had to. Last year, although still much heavier than I would like to be, I  was much fitter than I had been for years. I had been going to the gym regularly, ate better than before and generally was kinder to myself. A trip with a girlfriend to a local fair gave me the chance to sit with a naturopath and have live blood analysis. This is something I had done a few years earlier and had been told of all my health problems. This time the naturopath told me mine was one of the best samples he had seen all day. It showed that my blood was well oxygenated, that it was free flowing and that there were minimal issues at that time. That's a big change from a few years earlier when I had adrenal exhaustion and was told that I would have to manage that for life.

I'm telling you this not to brag (I've still got a long way to go) but to ask you to look at what you value. I put health in my top three because it was important to me. At the time I did that though, I wasn't living it. Now I am. What are your top 3 values?  Or what would you like them to be? And then get to work on making it so. If you value education, there might be courses you want to do. If you value family time, can you create a family fun night to honour that? Whatever it is make the time and take the energy to make it a reality. Don't write things on your list because you think they ought to be there. Write them on your list because they are important enough to be a consistent part of your daily life.

have a great week.

Til next time
